A College Kid's Night Out: A Saga

Consider the scenario of a legal-aged college student (21+) concluding their Friday morning class, pondering whether their peers will venture out to the bars that evening. A series of texts to friends, classmates, and even a crush reveals that the social scene will kick off at Bar ABC before moving to Bar XYZ. An impromptu pregame is organized, leading to an evening characterized by extensive communication: 129 texts, 48 ghosted messages, and 61 affirmative responses, culminating in music and games.

The group then heads to Bar ABC, only to find themselves in line for 35 minutes before entering—an experience marred by an unexpected doubling of the cover charge from $10 to $20. Disappointingly, one friend chooses to leave due to cash concerns while others press on. The night lightens momentarily as revelers dance and sing along in high spirits, though a forgotten tab closes out the night with an additional service fee. Efforts to arrange an after-party create an overwhelming sense of fatigue, leading to the decision to end the evening prematurely.

This narrative illustrates how a simple night out can be fraught with complications: managing pregame logistics, responding repeatedly for directions, handling last-minute needs, enduring line waits at venues, being hit with surprise cover charges, neglecting to settle tabs, and ultimately struggling with party coordination.
